At last I finished this Round Robin quilt started in 2009. I received the final round in November of 2009 and my job was to quilt and bind. Since my machine quilting skills are not the best, it has taken me this long to do little bit by little bit. My incentive to finally get it finished is that I was returning it to my friend who’s son will be home soon from military training before being deployed to Afghanistan. Although the quilt was originally being made as a church fund raiser, I thought she might like to have this quilt decorating their home during her son’s visit.
The picture does not show my quilting (which is a good thing) but I did each section differently – some outline, some free motion, some straight lines, some grid work. It certainly is not the best quilting in the world, but I was pleased with the final product.
I remember when my friend’s son was born, and I am a close enough friend to have held him as a baby. The years went by so fast and now to see him all grown up and in his Marine uniform is amazing. I thank him for his service to our country and pray that he will be safe.
